Day 1 : From Blois to Amboise

  • 44 km
The cycle path will lead you to Chaumont-sur-Loire castle, which most amazing part is without any doubt its International garden festival. Every year, about twenty international teams compose new creations according to a chosen theme. If you have time, visit also the castle and the park. Then, keep cycling until you reach Amboise.

Day 2 : From Amboise to Tours

  • 28 km
Take your time to discover Amboise castle, home of so many French kings and queens. Then, take you bike to your final destination Tours. You will pass through Montlouis-sur-Loire vineyards. Feel free to make a stop at La Cave des Producteurs to taste their local wines.

Day 3 : From Tours to Azay-le-Rideau

  • 35 km
Leave Tours to reach the Cher river that will guide you to Villandry castle, well-known for its stunning French gardens. Take you time to discover these unique creations. You will go through the countryside to reach Azay-le-Rideau where you will spend the night.

Day 4 : From Azay-le-Rideau to Chinon

  • 42 km
Start the day visiting Azay-le-Rideau castle & take a walk through its picturesque streets. Then, take your bike to reach Bréhémont where you will follow the Loire river for a while. You will be near Rigny-Ussé castle which inspired the one in Sleeping Beauty (entrance not included). enter the countryside once again, to reach this time a medieval city: Chinon.

Day 5 : From Chinon to Saumur

  • 29 km
Today, the cycle path will lead you to 2 of the most beautiful villages of France (labelled!): Candes-Saint-Martin and Montsoreau. Keep cycling to the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud, where were buried some of the most powerful figures of The House of Plantagenet. The last part of this journey will take you through vineyards, troglodyte sites, Loire river banks and then Saumur, where you will drop your bikes off.

Your trip:
5 days from Blois to Saumur to visit the most iconic monuments of the loire Valley: Chaumont-sur-Loire and its incredible international garden festival, Amboise and its history, Villandry and its French garden, Azay-le-Rideau and its water mirror, and the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud, home of the House of Plantagenet.
 
How to arrive in Blois?

By train : Blois-Chambord Station. Our shop is at a 5 min. walk from the station.

By car: Highway A10, Blois/Vendôme exit

 
How to get back to Blois from Saumur ?
By train - from Saumur station to Blois-Chambord Station: about 2h. / 7trains per day.
We do not sell train tickets. Please contact SNCF for more information.
 
Where to park in Blois?
Free parking lots: 
Parc rue Halou - at 300m from our shop / at 50m from Blois-Chambord station
Promenade Edmond Mounin - at 850m from our shop / at 900m from Blois-Chambord station
Parking du Mail - at 1.3km from our shop / at 1.3km from Blois-Chambord station
Parking Saint-Jean - at 1.4km from our shop / at 1.5km from Blois-Chambord station
 
Fee-paying parking lots: 
Streets paking (4.80€ per day / 12€ ticket for 7 days)
(To get the 7 days ticket at the parking meter: yellow button -> 1 -> Enter your licence plate -> "Valider" - > "Max")

Le Parking du Château (9€ per day / 28€ ticket for 7 days) - at 300m from our shop / at 350m from Blois-Chambord Station
 
More information:
Our hotels are accreditated Accueil Vélo (Cyclist welcome): they all have a secure bikes room to store yours during the night.
You will receive all your travel documents through an app to download on your mobile phone. It will contain every day itineraries and your e-tickets for the castles as included in your journey. 
On the first day, you must arrive before 9:30am. If you plan to arrive later, please contact us.
On the last day, your luggage will be delivered for 5:30pm.
